Drivepool Or Storage Spaces?

I've just built a new homeserver using Windows 8 with the aim of using storage spaces to manage my storage.

Unfortunately Storage Spaces seems none too reliable according to a number of articles around the web. People loosing data, drive pools deactivating, slow read and write speeds, etc etc.

My usage is fairly basic to be honest.

I need resiliency for my photos, videos and user files. Everything else I have the media for (i.e. movies and music etc).

I have 3 x 3 TB drives installed in the machine.

I have setup a two way mirror using 2 of the drives for photos, videos and user files and named the pool: Photos and Videos.

For my movies and music I've created a Simple pool with no resiliency using the remaining 3TB drive and have called that Digital Media.

I have photos and videos covered although I'm dubious of the reliability of the pool and the speeds are pretty lame.

For Digital Media what happens when I add more drives and one fails? Do I lose all the files in the storage pool or just the files that were stored on that drive?

OR

Do I use stable bit's DrivePool which is said to have much better transfer speeds and more options in the event of a failure because it uses NTFS? Everyone seems to think this is excellent.

What are everyone's thoughts? I want some piece of mind before I decommission WHSv1 and migrate all my data and drives over to the new server.

Many thanks

Chris
