I recently purchased Lights-Out for WHS 2011 after using the trial version for a few weeks. I am interested in saving power by having my server sleep at night and only stay on if certain client PCs are active. I have manually configured 3 PCs as IP clients with the "enable monitoring to keep server running" option. The problem is that Lights-Out incorrectly sees one of the PCs as always being active, even when that PC is sleeping. This is keeping the server on at all times.
The PC in question is my SageTV headless server which is a Windows 7 Pro machine. It is a very vanilla setup with little installed software. Other clients are also Windows 7 but Lights-Out correctly indicates their sleep state. I have confirmed the machine in question is asleep and, in-fact, the AWIECO Wake-On-LAN plug-in for WHS 2011 sees it asleep as well, but Lights-Out does not.
I am not using the WHS 2011 connector software, rather, I have configured these as IP clients in Lights-Out.
Any suggestions?
