Fixing Or Upgrading The Server? Which Is Best?

I currently have an AMD Sempron 3000+ system that runs Home Server 2011. Last night however, this system went down and became faulty. I also have a Core 2 Duo e4300 motherboard and processor that I'll be taking out of another system to upgrade, so I was wondering if I should try and fix the Sempron set-up, or to leave it for now and replace it with the Core 2 Duo?
I've researched into the power consumptions of both processors, and I found them to be just about the same, with one system coming top in one area, and the other coming top in another.
(http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/sempron-3000_9.html (shows the Sempron's power consumption))
(http://www.behardware.com/articles/652-2/intel-core-2-duo-e4300.html (shows the Intel's power consumption))
The things I want this server to do are;
*to act as a NAS
*to act as a media server (esp. as I'm just building a htpc) (I also have a lot of HD video stored on the server)
*to serve 4 possibly 5 clients
*to act as a ftp access point
I was pretty sold on the core 2 duo until I saw this - http://www.ehow.com/about_5449678_advantages-vs-intel-core-duo.html - which concludes that the sempron is the best out of the two for server usage, so I'm back where I started.
If anyone can help me come to a decision, I'll be more than thankful for your time!
