Yesterday I had to make a tough decision after two years of using WS2012R2E (and R1) I decided that I can no longer live with the issues I have with my 3 MediaSonic ProBox enclosures constantly disconnecting so I shut down the server and pulled 2x 3TB and a single 2TB drive out of the case put them into the spare ProBox I had and connected all 16 drives back up to my WHS2011 box. I haven't had it running in about two months and it is sitting dormant along with my v1 box. I left my 2012 box going and left the backup drive for the server and client computers in it so I can still have it run my backups but it has an i7 and 16B of RAM so it seems wasteful to use as a backup server while my new file storage server (2011) is hamstrung at 8GB of RAM by both the mobo and the OS on top of that this computer only has a Pentium G630 chip (I ordered a new i5 that will work in this PC right before I started typing this) I haven't gotten around to testing it but I don't think the Pentium will do the trick for multiple user media streaming form remote locations via subsonic or other things plus I just preferred the appearance of 2012 to 2011 Windows new minimal style is nicer than the Aero appearance of Win7 (if I don't get stuck in XP view like when I sign in with my secondary admin account.) I have info from MediaSonic on how to run their firmware tool and flash my boxes with the latest firmware I will give this a go and see if it changes anything but as of now I am back to using 2011 for all my storage and media.
