A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to get a great deal on a Dell Venue 8 Pro. As soon as I got it home I attempted to back up the virgin state to my WHS 2011. After a few obstacles and installing the WIndows 8/UEFI hotfix I was sucessful in performing an initial back up. Then after going through the work to set it up how I liked, I did another manual back up. Fast forward a few weeks and I now need to revert the tablet to that last back up.
Using the instructions on this video, I've attempted to restore, but the restore is just stuck at the same spot @ 2:49 in that video (see pic). I've tried this multiple times leaving it for upwards of 3 hours just in case it was just a slow process. I've sucessful utilized this same procedure on other Windows 7 clients with much larger restore sizes and it was a fairly painless and quick process, but this Venue 8 Pro restore just will not co-operate. This is my first attempt at restoring Windows 8 client.
Orginailly, in my haste, I was trying this over wifi then realized that was a bad idea. Now, the Venue 8 Pro does not have ethernet. However, I have a Toshiba Dynadock U3.0 which provides a gigabit connection so once I got that working (ie. drivers installed) I attempted this again (after disabling wifi to force connection via ethernet) and still no love. My next idea is to try using a bootable usb, but this is going to be a challenge as the venue has 1 port for all peripherals. So, before I attempt this just thought I'd see if you guys could give me some ideas as to what may be the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.
