This problem just about made me swear off MSI/AMD/MS/ AND USB 3.0
I spent several hours going back and forth from one vendor to the next each telling me it was the responsibility of the other to provide the correct support.
None of them, however, gave me any hope of a solution.
In a chance encounter, I read on a thread in HP where someone finally figured out a way to modify the "inf" files in the a specific Catalyst package. I never could get to the same one they used as the ATI catalyst download page asks what model system you have and gives you what it wants you to get.
In my case is was 13-12_winvista...... but the example used 13-4_winvista......
Next step is to extract the parts and pieces from the installer using 7zip.
rom there forward I had to make guesses since the exact files were not the same as what the example showed. The change specified replacing all mentions of ".5.1.1" with "5.1"
This did do something but not enough. I was finally able to get to the pint where it tells me I am missing the "MD USB 3.0 controller driver". In the devices it still says under OTHER
Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller and that is it.
On this forum I noticed where someone also mention doing something similar but the change was from ".6.1.1". It was not for an HP though. The Only USB that works at all are the USB 2.0 ports. USB 3.0 are completely dead and wont even read a USB2.0 drive.
Thanks
