Hello everyone. I come in desperation after reading as much as I could find to ask if anyone could please shed some light?
We have WHS 2011 with LightsOut both fully up to date. A Windows 8.1 laptop client (Lenovo G510) has been added. When the Win 8.1 machine is booted, the server sees it and it 'wakes up' in the client list as it should. Backup works fine. The client can be shutdown from within Lightsout. However, when the client is shutdown, either by the laptop user or via LightsOut, the client remains 'awake' in the computer list on the server, which consequently does not then go back to sleep itself.
For information, the laptop appears not to support WOL, so backups are manual only. That is fine, but the issue of having to boot the server to resolve the client list issue after every use of the laptop is a problem.
We have reinstalled the connector software on the laptop to no avail. I am unsure whether this is LightsOut or WHS 2011 related (for which I apologise in advance if this is therefore in the wrong section), though it would seem that either the Connector/LightsOut on the laptop is failing to signal its intent to shutdown, or the server is not actioning the message.
We have numberous Windows 7 machines working perfectly on the system, and and a Mavericks Mac having no issues of this type either.
Any help is massively appreciated.
