This past weekend I did a System Recovery of my HP MediaSmart server (an EX470) to update it from Version 1.x to Version 3.x, using HP's recovery disk. I had several attempts at this before I got it to be successful (one attempt, for example, didn't have Home Server components installed correctly, and none of the Home Server-related services would stay running).
Upon finally getting the System Recovery completed, I have found that one of my shares - the most significant share, which contains about 5.0 GB of documents (financial, manuals, etc.) has vanished, along with the directory associated with it. This suggests filesystem issues, which I attempted to fix via an RDP session by running CHECKDISK on the D:\ (DATA) drive. I did have replication enabled, and all indications from the Home Server Console were that it was working correctly prior to the System Recovery.
I have browsed the D:\ drive, including the D:\DE and D:\folders directories, and I've run TreeSizeFree in an attempt to find where the data might be hiding, but it appears to simply be gone.
Windows Home Server Console reports that the Backup Database has errors, but I'm hesitant to rebuild it until I can be sure that it won't make anything worse. I have not yet attempted to run the full battery of Windows updates, again until I can be sure that it won't make anything worse. Replication was enabled prior to the System Recovery for all shares.
Any suggestions? I'm a bit desperate to recover these files!
