I have been rotating two 2TB backup drives since setting up my server in early 2012. I house the drives in a internal drive caddy, and the process has seemed smooth enough. However, over the past few months I have been lax doing the rotation, and decided today to get back on schedule. Before changing the drive I did a successful test restore from Backup HD1, manually choosing a backup from a few days ago. Then, when I replaced Backup HD1 with Backup HD2 and tried the test restore I noticed that all the recent backup dates in the selection calendar are still bold. So it looks like the calendar is reporting every date for which a backup was created, rather than the backups that are available on the inserted drive. If I select one of the bold dates, WHS throws an unknown error, presumably because it doesn't find that backup on the inserted drive. My dilemma is this: how do select an older date to restore from if I don't know which specific dates are on the inserted drive? Is there a way to get a list of backups for the inserted drive? Or something I'm doing wrong here?
