A laptop client connected by wired ethernet will not reboot after I perform a recovery. I am performing the recovery because I replaced the client's hard drive with a larger hard drive. Here is the process I used:
I first backed up the client's original entire hard drive to the server. I then replaced the hard drive with a larger drive, and booted the client using a Recovery USB key. The client booted from the recovery key found the server and I performed a complete hard drive recovery. I then checked the BIOS to make sure it would first attempt boot from the hard drive, and rebooted the client. Without the Recovery Key, the client said it could not boot and directed me to insert the installation disk. WIth the Recovery Key installed, the client attempts to locate the server.
I then performed the BIOS diagnostics and the hard drive and memory have no errors.
Is it possible the boot record on the hard drive is messed up? If so, how do I fix that? Or is the problem something else?
Thanks in advance for the help.
