In preparation for reinstalling the OS (Win7x64Pro) on a desktop, I was checking the status of the client backup so I could selectively restore data after completing installation of OS and data. Simulating the process allowed me to select the drive to restore. I then observed creation of "Drive Y" in Explorer on the target client. (Drive Z: already exists. I assume WHS is creating the highest letter available.)
At that point I get a pop-up message that says Drive Y has to be formatted. Confirming that Drive Y was not, in fact, one of the other active drives, I clicked yes. The format dialog popped up. Clicking on OK for that resulted in failure do to the drive being "read-only".
I got the same result when trying to view the backup files of a different computer from the workstation as the original problem.
I conclude that I have no backups at all. Perhaps bare-metal restore would work but I don't want to test that theory.
Can anyone suggest a next step for resolution?
Thanks
Chris
