I have a very old dual PIII server running WHS2003 on three 500gb PATA drives, around Christmas I got an error on a disk. The system disk to be exact. I thought no problem I needed to upgrade any way. I got a 2tb disk and a PCI SATA card, installed it and tried to move my data over, no dice. So I thought, I'll run out and by a home server already made, plug it into my network and transfer that way. After removing the SATA card and drive the WHS console got stuck "calculating sizes." I tried a lot of different things and decided to try and do a server reinstall. I got my disk out and attempted the install and at first all appeared like it should, I even got to enter the key. Then I got an error, and it said to re-try the install, so I rebooted. And now I don't get the server reinstall just new installation. I've tried a bunch of different methods of getting passed the error. Mainly unplugging all hard drives and trying to install new. But even then I get "E:\svr_2003|i386\winntbbu.dll is either not designed to run on Windows......" I also get "unable to initialize UI subsystem." If I try to boot directly into the WHS box I get unable to find NTLDR. I just want to get my data off the PATA drives. Can anyone point me in the direction that might be the best route? Thanks in advance.
