Im getting this error from a new install done just 24hrs ago.
The backup is not successfully set up
An unknown error prevented the server from performing the task. Make sure that all the services on the server are running, and then try again.
I've been having numerous issues, and its possibly due to the fact that i deleted some of the shared files (which by my thinking at least) had absolutely no purpose to me, and im not sure whether its 'fixed/repaired' now or whether i've got more work to do.
I deleted basically all of the 'Storage' server folders, with the exception of 'Users'.
I found out about 1hr ago that was a bad move, as the 'Windows Server Essentials Computer Backup Service' (WSSBackup.exe) wouldnt run, it'd just shut itself down. I fixed that by returning its precious 'Client Computer Backups' folder, and its happily running now.
However, something clearly isnt happily running. I've recreated all of the server folders, though it originally located them at C:\ServerFolders, whereas ive relocated them to D:\ServerFolders simply because thats where i want them to be, not on a small SSD which wont even cover 1 of my client machines.
I've found nothing from google, and ive just migrated from WHS2011 after the dashboard wouldnt load unless almost all addons (all original) were disabled, preventing me from doing backups or restoring them, now im on a newly purchased system with WS2012 R2E and im still in the same position of having no protection from failure/corruption and still feeling particularly fed up with it all.
Can anyone make any suggestions as to what could be the issue? Clearly it believes theres a service not running, i've ordered them by status to go through all the 'Stopped' services but nothing seems particularly obvious. Rebooting makes no difference either.
Please help
