I have had no problems backing up my Windows 8 pc to the Windows Home Server v1. However, I just had a really hard time restoring the computer from a backup(after a disastrous Windows 8.1 update). I was able to complete the restore (see below) but now I can no longer boot using UEFI Security on. I can only boot with Legacy Security off.
I would like to figure out how to make UEFI Security on work. Any ideas?
As a side note, this is the only way I could get the restore to work(if there is an easier way, please let me know!):
1: Start restore as normal from the CD. Manually create partitions to match backup images, then complete the restore.
2: After restore I had to boot from the windows 8 recover disk and go to a command prompt
3: At the command prompt:
Type diskpart
Type select disk 0
Type list partition
(make a note the partition number where windows 8 is installed)
Type select partition X (X is the partition number where Windows is installed)
Type active
Type exit
Type bcdboot c:\windows (if C is your windows partition)
boot using legacy security off mode.
