I just installed WSE 2012 on an HP MicroServer for my home network. When I installed, I was using a combined modem/router from Comcast, and the server was able to access the Internet without any problems. But the built-in router (or more specifically the Wi-Fi hotspot function) on the Comcast device sucked, so I got Comcast to enable bridge mode on it, and fired up my old Linksys E3000 router. With the new configuration, all the devices on my home network can access the Internet, *except* the server.
Although I'm not a DNS expert, it looks like the server is able to resolve addresses on the Internet fine - if I ping an Internet address (e.g. www.liesdamnedlies.com, my own site), ping comes back with:
Pinging ianthomas.typepad.com [204.9.177.195] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.2.101: Destination host unreachable
(Yes, I know I should migrate off Typepad)
I've tried fiddling with various network settings, but to no avail. The server is using a fixed IP address (192.168.2.101) - I've tried various combinations of fixed & dynamic IP addresses, but to no avail. One detail that may be relevant is that the local subnet address changed when I changed routers - the old router used 10.0.0.0 and the new one uses 192.168.2.0.
Any help/pointers gratefully received - am I missing some policy thing, or something?
Thanks,
Ian
