Whs Formatted Drive Won't Show Files In Win7

hi all, long story short, i was given a copy of WHS v1, set it up on old computer, formatted an external 2TB drive to WHS, added files. 

WHS is now caught in activation loop, lesson learned. However, my drive shows in Win7, but the files/contents do not.

Are these files gone/retrievable?
