Remove Grayed Out For One Drive

Running WHS V1 on a home built server with an old P4 motherboard that has 4Gb RAM installed.

Nine drives installed, all SATA using two 4 port PCI SATA controllers as well as the two SATA ports on the motherboard. The drives are a mixture of Seagate and WD, capacities of 1Gb (2), 1.5Gb (1), and 2Gb (6). DVD drive attached as an IDE device.

Started having some issues with bad sectors on the drives. One drive had several - a WD Green. That one was Removed with some effort, since it damaged a few files that had to be manually deleted before WHS would remove it. That left my backups damaged. WHS tried to fix the backups, and decided that was not possible. Solution was to delete all and do a fresh backup. This was done without further issue.

A second WD Green drive was also failing. It has been removed now. Both are being replaced with 2Gb Seagate NAS drives.

My issue is with a 1Gb drive that does not have any problems. For some reason, the option to Remove this drive is grayed out. This is the only drive that can not be Removed. Same with the right-click context menu - Remove is not an available option.

What causes Remove to be grayed out? How can I change this?

The drive is OK, as far as I can tell. My reason for removing is simple. Last week, I used the instructions found online to replace the previous 320Gb IDE boot drive with a 1Gb SATA drive. Trouble is, I grabbed the drive off my shelf and did not check the drive first. It has bad sectors! Not classed as Failing, but since it is the boot drive, I want to replace it with a good drive. The replacement drive is the 1Gb drive now being used as a data drive. If I can figure out how to Remove the 1Gb data drive, that is......

Thanks in advance!
