G'day all,
After having my main computer's MB blow up on me, and having built my WHS box around the same time, I thought it was time to build a new system before my WHS box blows up.
So I built a new box, installed WHSv1 with no issue, and then went to update before moving everything over. After Windows Update taking forever to find updates, I find out via Google that MS don't release updates for it anymore. The only update I could download and install manually was PP1. So now I have a box with WHS and PP1.
I then searched online for free home server solutions, but in all honesty, it just goes over my head, with all the command prompts and setting up.
WHS serves me well. Basically it is used as a file server, which mainly streams video files to my PS3, as well as store my music and photos on. WHSv1 and DE have served me well, I have had a hard drive die from the pool, as well as the system drive, and in both times it was so easy to repair and get working again.
So my question is wether it is safe to use WHSv1 with PP1 only?
