Thought I would try posting rather than just replying for a change. Have a curious problem with the latest batch of Microsoft Updates pulled down this week. The Malicious Software update installs fine, but I have 6 other updates for Server 2008 R2 which repeatedly fail to install. Searching the error message gives little info other than the generic fixes for Microsoft Update failures. Have run two different 'Fix It' tools from Microsoft and a third party one with no effect. Also System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft which was also recommended.
I have an odd feeling this may be yet another QA issue with this months fixes having had the Office 2013 Outlook issues and the repeated install of Office 2007 patches both at home and at work on various systems (actually a few hundred systems). I wonder if it is detecting Home Server 2011 and deciding that it is the wrong OS for 2008 R2 patches?
Clearly if no-one else has problems, it is my server which won't take the updates for some odd reason.
