Hi,
I have just moved DHCP functionality onto Windows Server 2012 Essentials. I'd like to configure and use different dhcp scopes, each with its own set of properties.
For example, I'd like to have ascope with a relatively long lease time for wired connections, a scope with somewhat short lease time for laptops that come and go, and a scope with very short lease times for mobile phones.
I know how to create different scopes each with a different address pool and different scope options.
What I don't know is how to configure the DHCP service to select a scope based upon the connecting client hardware. I can't use a vendor class, because some vendors make both laptops and phones.
I've found lots of sources saying it can be done, but none that explain how to do it.
Does anyone here know how, or where I can find some reading to explain how?
Thanks,
Steve
