I've got a Seagate 250 GB drive that is used for the server backup (the hidden drive). I'm going to swap it out with a WD 320 GB green drive, is there anything special I need to do? Would it benefit to install the new drive before removing the old drive? It doesn't appear that I could transfer the files, and as far as I know, I can't clone the disk and replace it, IIRC, if I replace it, I would need to run the server backup setup again and it would wipe the drive anyway??
Is it OK to just install the new drive as is and setup server backup, or should I remove any existing partitions, and install the drive as if its a brand new drive?
Waiting to do the drive swap until I get my new server case, Fractual Design R4, excited to get more drive room, quieter case and not have to pull the mother board to swap out a hard drive (old case is mini atx Cooler Master 341, cooling fan is hyper 212 Evo and blocks the drive bays...) Also notice this Seagate drive runs approx. 107 degree Fahrenheit where most of my WD green drives run upper 70's lower 80's.
