I bought my Acer H340 about 2 years ago. It worked well in the last two years. However, 1 week ago, after i restarted the WHS system, the homeserver did not work again. The light of network card did not flash. The light of the hard disk remained off. I thought the Homeserver did not enter the WHS system. Since Acer H340 homeserver is headless. I had to buy a debug card which offers the port for video out. In the BIOS self-test, the hard disk test is OK. But just after the self-test, the process stopped. The screen give out the information like this
"Immediately back-up your data an replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue".
After I pressed F1 button, the WHS could not be lanched normally. WHS could only be accessed via the safe model. In the safe model, the Intel Matrix storage manager showed that the Hard disk is failed in S.M.A.R.T. However, the copy and delete operation in the disk are still OK. Before I started to insert a debug card, I had moved out the hard disk to anther computer, the WHS could be lanched. At that time, I thought the WHS system and hard disk are fine.
Is this a problem of hard disk or WHS software? Will it be helpfull if I reinstall the WHS or format my hard disk.?
Looking forword to an answer. Thank you.
