I have a WSE2012 running in my home network. I don't use remote access or the DNS server. On domain clients, I set the DNS server to be automatically assigned (the external DNS from CenturyLink for me).
Currently the IP addr and DNS for the server are automatically assigned.
I am trying to assign a static IP: IP addr 192.168.0.98; subnet mask 255.255.255.0; gateway 192.168.0.1 (current gateway verified by using ipconfig). I don't reset the DNS---leave it at automatic assign.
When I do this, I lose internet access on the server. Does anyone understand why?
Is assigning a static IP addr a bad idea?
