My virtual installation of WHS started acting up after an unexpected reset of the host machine - Windows 8 and hyper-v. Clients can't connect, and it says that msls31.dll module can't be located when I click the start menu button on the server desktop. Text does not show up when I type in any field, and the dashboard says the server can't collect alerts. Anyone run into this before? The only things I've been working on lately is my movies and AnyDVD (which I just uninstalled).
The reset was due to the keyboard and mouse failing to respond on the host - which seems to happen frequently. Another fun problem. I use a kvm switch, but it's done it without the kvm switch, too. Sometimes plugging in another mouse will work and I can do a graceful power down, but not this time. When I rebooted, the clients stopped connecting.
I guess the beauty of the vm is all my data is on two pass through disks in a pool, so I can disconnect them from the vm and start fresh, but really don't want to. You can't do snapshots with pass through disks.
