I am slowly making progress with my setup of 2 x WHS2011 and 1 x Win8 which are all running Lights-Out.
My Windows 8 Home Theatre PC (HTPC) is running Lights-Out (standalone version). It uses Lights-Out to ensure that the HTPC is running when TV programs need to be recorded. This, together with monitored client devices enables the HTPC to hibernate when not in use for recording or viewing purposes.
Separately, this HTPC is configured as a client PC to the main backup WHS2011 server (which is also running Lights-Out).
I am trying to work out the best way to automatically keep the HTPC running when an HTPC backup is scheduled or manually requested. If the HTPC is hibernating and is then woken up for a backup, Lights-Out standalone running on the HTPC will then hibernate it as it isn't monitoring backups where it is the client.
I realise I could setup calendar entries to ensure it is active when backups are scheduled but this won't handle the manual request and will also mean it will run longer than required.
Is there anything that can be monitored when a client backup is in progress so that the standalone Lights-Out will keep the HTPC alive?
