I've recently retired my Acer WHS v1 and moved to a new machine with WHS 2011. I used PS3 Media Server on the old WHS v1 and had thumbnails for all my movies. PS3MS lets you select a folder where your thumbnails are and you just match your video file name with a little extra naming convention and it works great!
I've tried Media Server on WHS 2011 and it seems to work fine with all my .M2TS and .MP4 movies, but I can't figure out if or how I can use thumbnails. I've searched for info but no luck. So right now I'm using PS3MS again which works great. But I would probably just use WHS 2011's Media Server if I could figure out how to use thumbnails. That way I could unload PS3MS and Java which is required by PS3MS.
Thanks
Jeff
PS: I'll have post a list of all the things I miss from WHS v1! So many small things that I can't believe they didn't put in 2011. I know I'm late to the party with WHS 2011, but I'm not going to pay $425 for Windows Server 2012 Essentials, when I can buy WHS 2011 on Newegg for $49!!!
