I've had my WHS 2011 setup for not quite a year now and just recently, in the past two or three weeks, have started having some issues on my network.
My router is the Netgear 3700. I have one PC, the server and a my book live wired to the router, 3 PC's and a laptop that are wireless.
First issue is that for some reason my upstairs PC seldom completes a backup anymore. Sometimes it is incomplete, sometimes it simply fails all together and once in a blue moon it is successful. When I first set this server up with this router, all 4 PC's and the laptop, if they were all on over night, would all get backed up without fail.
I've switched wireless adapters on the PC in question, but no difference in results. The laptop, which is wireless, still backs up fine. both of the downstairs PC's backup fine (one is win7 the other is XP, I have no win8, other PC's and laptop are win7).
Next issue is that I cannot remote connect any longer. Dashboard works fine from any PC/laptop. I don't notice any wireless signal drop.
This Netgear router would never setup UPnP through WHS 2011 so I would manually add the 4125 port forward. I have checked and rechecked my ports and the server IP, which is reserved as 192.168.0.2.
I still suspect the router, though the Xbox's and PS3's and Andriod and iThingy devices all stay wirelessly connected and have no issue with downloads.
I have no alerts listed in the dashboard, although I do get the occasional 'computer X has a new hard drive that needs backed up'. This has happened on ALL the computers that I have connected my USB hard drive too, and the message pops up when the USB drive isn't even connected to anything...
One thing I have not tried lately is to remote connect from within the home network. I just know it no longer remote connects outside the network. I've contacted my ISP and they say they are not blocking the ports.
Any ideas?
