2012 Essentials On Vmware Workstation 9

Hello,

My WHS 1 server has not been behaving very nicely.  I have to reboot several times a day to access it.  I am not sure why it hangs up.  Seems like console peforms ok, but when access files, then it hangs.   So I was thinking of going to windows 2012 essentials.

I wanted to take a look at 2012 essentials first, so I downloaded and put on a VM workstation 9.   Installed fine but I am having a network issue and not sure if it is my lack of knowledge, or something with VMware.

My home network is 192.168.2.*

Vm workstation is  192.168.2.35.

If connect 2012 Essentials to the NATed network 192.168.75.*, it gets its DHCP address 192.168.75.128 and connects to internet fine.

If i used the bridged mode in VM, then it gets a DHCP of 192.168.2.37 and gateway 192.168.2.1.  No internet connection, and cannot ping 192.168.2.1.

I have not had issues with past using 2003 or 2008 server, but those used a private network connection.  Essentials uses a DOMAIN NETWORK.   Is this the issue that those types are not compatible.   I was trying to figure out how to just use a PRIVATE NETWORK, but seems I can not find info how to do this.

I am not sure if this is VM, Essentials, or likely me.

Thanks for any advise.
