It seems every single time i come to use the only thing i use WHS2011 for, its an absolute nightmare.
I've fired up the connector, and straight away it cannot find my server. I've used the name (WHS2011) and the IP (192.168.1.12) and it just comes straight back.
It'll be the 2nd machine connected, its a fresh install of Win7 x64, .NET 4 and network drivers (HP N40L) are all thats been installed.
Looking on the network i can see \\WHS2011 and the shared folders for it, though i cant access them, which is understandable.
From the other end, the server or other client, i can see the new machine on the network but get a message saying Windows cannot access \\HOME-PC, and 'the network path was not found' as the reason.
The server has xampp running, it occupies port 80 and so browsing to the address brings up the Xampp setup screen, however to my mind that simply proves i can access that machine, it just isnt showing me the WHS2011 splash screen and offering me the connector download. Is there any possibility that his is clouding the access? Its not an issue for my other client machine, its been fine for about a year now, but i wouldnt take it for granted i guess.
I can stop the Apache & MySQL services, and that doesnt help, but at the same time it also doesnt bring up the WHS splash screen, so im not sure if something has been 'tweaked' somewhere. If its possible it has, i'd need advice on where to check and/or fix it.
I've tried googling and looking at similar threads for about 2h now, and it always seems to be a slightly different issue.
FWIW, 'FindMyServer' finds it, but then i know its there anyway thats not the issue, its getting the damn connector to see it and communicate with it. I cant even get to the authentication process.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or is there something i can do to make it easier for someone to assist and pinpoint where the issue may come from??
