Failing Drive In Asus Ts Mini. Added New Drive Via Esata Can I Then Connect It Internally?

I searched all over google and didn't come up with anything.  I have a client that has a Asus TS mini home server in their small office network.  The system drive is the 500gb that came with it.  There is also a 1tb drive that holds data and is failing.  I bought another 1tb drive to replace it and planned on adding it to the pool, removing the failing drive and calling it a day.  I didn't realize just how small the TS mini is and that there are only two internal sata slots running off a pcie device.

So I used an esata dock that I have to add the new drive to the pool.  I then set it to remove the failing drive (overnight as they need their data available during office hours).  Anyway I'm heading back there in the morning.  Once the data is on the esata drive (again just an internal in a dock) can I just remove the failed drive and connect the new one internally?  I know under normal windows circumstances you can but WHS is a whole other beast ;)
