I've just reinstalled Win7, and come to the dreaded connector install and as per usual its being a collection of 4 letter words!
I can download the connector from the server fine, when i run it, its unable to located it automatically, but given the IP or the server name its fine.
Its already installed .NET framework 4 (and rebooted) so within a couple of seconds its asking me for my password. After doing that (ive checked using false pw's too) and it being happy with it, i get the following unhelpful error:
"Cannot connect this computer to the network
An unexpected error has occurred. For more information, see Troubleshoot connecting computers to the server."
The troubleshoot, in typical MS fashion, is useless, doesnt even cover the error msg presented.
Log files (renamed to .txt, as the site wont accept .log)
ClientDeploy.txt (2.11K)
Number of downloads: 0
Computerconnector.txt (3.63K)
Number of downloads: 0
CSetup.txt (8.26K)
Number of downloads: 0
I've hassled Google, ive gone through about 8 threads on the subject on here, and none seem to have any influence, but im hoping that with the log files provided, someone helpful might be able to identify the problem.
How theres no solution from Microsoft, ive no idea, clearly this is a long standing issue and theres half a dozen 'solutions' ive come across already but none have helped, and yet they're not provided in the troubleshoot, let alone fixed with the connector software.
I wouldnt mind if this was an old installation, its a fresh install a matter of hours ago, with network driver, graphics, and security (MSE) installed. It shouldnt be this complicated!
Things checked:
Time & Timezone settings
NetTCP port sharing running (was disabled)
TCP/IPv6 disabled, on Win7 & WHS2011 just incase.
Network shares, remote access, all working fine.
Anyone any thoughts/suggestions??
