I've been playing with WS2012E and 1 client PC with its connector before I migrate all my PCs over and have discovered a weird behavior.
Said client PC is running Win7 Ultimate 32-bit and I've set it up for backups without joining the domain established by the server. DNS addresses are provided by the router.
If the server is off or in standby, everything works fine. Once I turn the server on, the DNS server setting for this client PC changes from the router's LAN address to 169.254.47.249 which I noticed is the IPv4 configuration address for the server's Ethernet port. The client PC can no longer resolve Internet domains and doing a remote desktop connection to the server now requires me to use the 169 IP address.
Other client PCs on the LAN that do not have the connector installed are fine.
It looks like the server is also acting as a DNS server and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it off. I do see postings that say to turn off the DNS server on the router but I use my server for client backups only and let it sleep most of the time.
Thanks.
