I installed the Stablebit scanner trial last week more out of curiosity than anything else and it has identified one of my drives as bad. The only WD Green I ever bought, which I regret, but it has worked fine for what I need.
I got the "SMART is not predicting imminent failure, However...... " message, along with an error regarding bad sectors.
EV, chkdsk, HSS2013 all are clean. I copied the data to another drive and did a binary compare to an earlier copy, that looks good too.
I going to replace the drive just to be safe and as an excuse to go get a 4TB drive.
I still however would really like to verify whether the drive is bad. Can anyone recommend a tool to do so. I understand Stablebit having a different opinion about how to interpret SMART data, but bad sectors is a different story. Right now I am leaning towards the WD utility.
