Hello all - Im stumped...
Im trying to restore a perfectly functioning Win7 Pro 32b client from WHS 2011 64b.
My usb recovery key/flash drives can not start the client restore application. Every time I boot with the usb drive I get the error"invalid system partition" and the boot from the usb drive fails. I remove the drive and the Win7 client boots up just fine. I even tried to create a USB Win7 usb boot key and it loads the Win7 install program without a hitch. Therefore the bios can boot just fine from a usb
I create the usb key through the Dashboard...->other tools->Create recovery USB, but each i use in the client, it generates the error message "Invalid partition table"
I noticed that there a few other methods to create a restore USB device by a manual distpart/bootsect, but they have also failed. As a result, I've tried to load via a 8g NTFS and an 8g FAT32 flash drive with all of the setup files. I even got desperate and burned them onto a cdrom to no avail....unfortunately, the newegg WHS version did not include a recovery cdrom.
ANY help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks,
Custombuilt hardware - 1Tb SATA x3 on Gigabyte mobo
WHS 2011, 64bit [No problems] - Retail version from Newegg
Windows 7 Pro 32bit [No problems; restoring to an earlier backup prior to installing Windows 8]
PNY 8g flashdrive
Kingston 8g flashdrive
Thanks!!!!
