I'm currently running the evaluation version of 2012 Essentials, trying to decide whether to upgrade from Home Server V1 to this. I've hit a few problems, and can't believe they would be bugs in such a bulletproof product, so wondered if others had hit these issues;
1) My shares keep disappearing. When I look in the storage section, it says "Error" next to the storage pool, but nothing else. A restart fixes it. Anyone else seeing this?
2) Often the dashboard won't open from my Windows 8 machine. Any ideas why?
3) I didn't use domains - I have a Surface, and wanted to keep settings in sync, so I use a Microsoft account to log in. However, that means my PC keeps forgetting my login for the file history storage. Any idea how to get it to remember my account?
4) I don't want to buy a certificate just to remotely access the machine. But self created certificates don't work with phones or with Surface. Any good alternatives?
Sorry for the big list of questions, but it seems like either I am missing something, or this OS is not ready for use as a server. I'm seriously thinking of installing WHS 2011 with drive bender instead, but would love to hear from other folks to see what people think.
Thanks
Martin
