Motherboard And Cpu Advice For Whs2011

Hi all,

First thanks to all who have responded to my previous posts.  I am all in on WHS2011 for my needs and now need to complete a partial build I started a year or so ago.  I am going to upgrade the CPU and motherboard to something modern.

I have narrowed the CPU down to two choices:

i3-3220 @ $120 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116775

Celeron G1610 @ $50 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116889

I plan on running MyMovies, Lights Out, Stable bit (?) and that is probably about it.  I do not plan on doing any transcoding on the server.  I have a i7-3770 for that.  I assume the MyMovies content on the server is simply file serving from the server to the clients. Are there any plugins the G1610 cannot handle (short of transcoding apps)?

There does not seem to be a bevy of mother boards available.

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H @ $139 (really the top of my budget with the i3) - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128546

ASRock H77M @ 69:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157303

I am thinking about going with the Z77 board for a longer lifespan.  I could swap in a higher end process (likely i5) in a couple years to get better performance if I need it or want to do transcoding.  Make sense?  I would probably add an ESATA or internal SATA card for future expansion.

I plan on having a BD drive in the server.  I will be light on SATA III ports  for drives.  Should I be concerned about the data drives connected to SATA II ports?  I am considering the new Segate 4 TB drives or 3 TB Reds?

What other motherboards should I consider?

Thanks in advance for any all help.
