Hi all,
I have looked though the other posts, but haven't found anything similar, apologies if someone has already posted this issue.
I built myself a WHS 2011 based on an Intel DQ45CB board (I know it's a desktop board ) 4GB Ram, 2nd PCI Realtek NIC, then just the usual bank of HDDs. The only non standard configuration I have made is setting up a DHCP server, caching DNS and Routing and Remote Access as NAT (I can't get wake on wan to work though my D-link 855 router at all, so need the server to take its place, security nightmare I know)
I installed Drive Pool, Lights Out, Drive Scanner, configured all of them then copied my data from my old WHS, and had them running parallel for a while to make sure it was stable. All seemed well, no BSOD, Drive Pool was doing as it should, and Lights Out was successfully hibernating it at the end of the day, and a WOL packet would bring it up in the morning.
So, I made the leap, and connected my clients to it, configured the web site and turned my old WHS off. It seems however that since then, when entering hibernation, it seems to hang then power down, and after WOL not working, I physically power it up. Windows then recovers from an unexpected shutdown.
I have trawled through the Lights Out service logs, and Windows logs, but can't see what is now causing the failure to hibernate. I've updated all my drivers (apart from the Intel NIC, that seemed to cause quite a few BSOD) This is a list of services Lights Out is stopping before hibernation, just in case a service was becoming unresponsive during hibernation: HealthAlertsSvc,Spooler,RemoteAccess,TSGateway,DHCPServer
If anyone has any advice on how I can troubleshoot this, it would be greatly appreciated, as I am now faced with swapping back to my V1 box for relyability.....
