Hi
I am building a NAS based on WHS2011 and I have the following questions in mind:
1) do you recommend raid 1 or raid 5? The 2 systems seem to offer similar levels of security and performance, raid 5 being less demanding about capacity HD.
2) a HD failure can be fix by replacing the dead drive without loosing data (provided raid 1 or 5). But what happens if the CPU becomes out of order, in particular if the CPU can not be replaced by the same model or same disk Controler? I understood hardware raid array are linked to the hardware and requis same hardware and firmware to rebuilt the raid. Is it correct?. I am afraid in this case to loose all the data?
Thank you in advance for your answers and guidance.
