Note to Moderators: I posted this mistakenly on WHS V1 forum, I will try to delete, but you may delete the one on V1 forum.
I have several lan servers (Remote Potato,3 different IP cameras, Homeseer, wifi therostat, etc.) that I would like to access from the WAN.
My work restricts outbound http access to some commonly used ports (80, 443, perhaps a few more) so that I am able to access my WHS 2011 box, log in, etc.
I would like WHS to be able to serve up my LAN servers from links that I place on the WHS landing page.
If I put the local lan address (the 192.168.x.x) of the lan server address in the link, of course it fails, because my remote computer tries that subnet, which doesn't exist in my work environment. I do not have VPN set up.
If I put my DDNS WAN web address, I would have to use a non-standard port, because WHS uses 80 and 443, and my work web filter filters out most other ports.
What I want is to put a link on the WHS landing page, when I click on that link, WHS goes to that link, and serves me whatever the lan server serves to it. Sort of like a tunnel, but I don't know the proper terminology. Say I'm logged into whs.homeserver.com, and my landing page has a link to "My Remote Potato", which on my lan is 192.168.1.223:80. When I click on the link, I want WHS (not the computer that clicked on the link) to access 192.168.1.223:80 and pass whatever that web site serves up to my remote browser. Anything that server serves goes to the remote browser, and anything sent from my remote browser goes back to the lan server. Am I explaining myself correctly? I know I could go to my router and assign another port (say 81, 8080, etc) and the router would do this for me, but I dont have enough ports available to me through my work web filter to do that.
Is there a way to do this, or am I out of luck?
Thanks!
