I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition laptop. The first thing I did was wipe out the partitions and blow away Windows 8, and installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) (just like my desktop and other laptop). When I got everything set up correctly, I installed the WHS client software, and did a backup to my MediaSmart WHS (EX470, maybe?)
Now that everything was all set, I decided now was a good time to test a restore, right? At the worst case, I lose a day of setup time.
When I try to boot from the original Client Restore disc, I get a BSOD, saying that my BIOS doesn't support ACPI. I got another version of the Client Restore ISO and burned that to disc, but no luck with that, either.
I was able to start the Client Restore disc bootup in Safe Mode, and the last thing that loaded was disk.sys before the BSOD.
I have the latest BIOS from Dell, but there's nothing about ACPI.
Any ideas?
