Retiring Server - How To Keep Backups?

Hey there,

After many good years in service its time to move on for me, now that MS have ditched the WHS... :-(

I have no problems saving the data from my server somewhere else before I install my new home sever software - Amahi. However I do want to keep 6 or so backups that reside on my WHS is there any way of doing this so I can actually view/restore/retieve files from these backup at a later date should I need to?

Do I need any specific sowtware to restore these is it possible?
