For all thoise interested, I have TimeMachine on my OSX 10.7 Hackintosh backing up happily to my WHS2011 server using iSCSI. I installed LDISK 3.0.0.2 (trial) on the server and global San iSCSI initiator v4.1 (build 279) on the Mac. [V4 of iSCSI initiator as this is the last free version. (v5+ now cost $89)].
This solution doesn't require any hacks or nasty work arounds and only took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I haven't done very extensive testing, however I note the following.
Full backup worked fine - 750GB in about 12 hours
Incremental backup is working fine
Individual file restore works.
iSCSI disk connection (and TimeMachine process) survives a restart with no problems.
So far, no sign of any issues whatsoever.
I'll post more detailed instructions if anyone asks.
Matt.
