I have been running my homemade WHS machine essentially continuously since 2007 (it has pp3 installed). It has been a 'build it and forget about it' machine. I do not have any add-in programs. I have installed/removed a couple HDDs over the years, but that's about it. I store all sorts of data (music, video, pictures, etc) on the WHS and access it for multiple computers in the house.
hardware: low end core2 duo, 3 HDDs (750gb WD (OS), 1TB WD, 2TB WD)
I have been having some problems for the last few months.
1. I typically back up 2 desktops. Neither has sucessfully backed up since June 2012.
2. WHS console says that my 3 of my 8 shared folders have a status of: "Failing (Check Health)." I also receive 'file conflicts' errors for these folders.

4. on the 'Server Storage' screen in WHS console, the OS drive is sometimes listed as unhealthy/failing/etc. I ran the repair routine earlier today and this problem went away (I have done this before and the error returned). I see that this may be a common problem, but it may not be so common in my situation in light of the other issues.
5. Also in the 'Server Storage' screen, the console cannot storage space (on the right hand side). It simply churns and says "Calculating sizes" continuously.
Do I need to try to move data off the WHS? I do not want to lose this data. Do I need to replace the OS drive?
