i dabbled with whs1 in the early days but have been using unraid for a while now. since the support for unraid seems very patchy i'm thinking about coming back to whs as it has a few features i'm looking for , the main one being lights out.
reading through some of the guides on here ref media sharing that there is a problem with whs downloading its own meta data etc for media, this could be a real problem for me as i have everything set up how i want it now. can i just bypass the media sharing feature and just use the whs via smb for my xbmc clients and just add the folders i want on my windows clients via the "add a network location" feature?
to be honest i'm not really interested in the backup tool as i only have 2 windows clients, and any data i really want to keep resides on the server.
also i would like to use flexraid for drive pooling and data protection, does anyone have an opinion on this good or bad?
any other info that i should know or read up on?
