I have been reading posts on this site and others trying to get my WHS server working again.
All has been working fine for a few years. It is an HPex495 with 7 tb of drives. 2 Seagate 1.5 (including the system disk) and 2 WD 2tb Drives. I have the duplication turned on.
I went to access the server Wed and could not, greyed out icon. I used it on Monday. After pulling the drive and putting in a desktop, I could not see it or initialize it. I saw a 2 gb seagate Green drive on sale and bought it I had issues with getting that running, and I read a few possible issues with green drives and WHS. Then I realized I had same model 1.5 seagate in the desktop using only aboug 10 gb, so I copied the files to another drive. I did a Long format, removed the partition, shutdown and pulled the drive to the WHS. I was having issues using the recovery. I saw some posts about the tftp process, when I opened, I saw the ip was using something from my VM workstation software. So I used a windows 7 server that has nothing on it. Direct connected and the WHS recover went ok.
The issue is trying to install the connector software. It gets to the point where it is configuring backup service and statens the backup service may not be running. I remote into the server looked at the logs for WHS and it states
9/3/2011 11:40:48 AM 1310] Backup Service Started.
[9/3/2011 11:40:48 AM 1108] No volume contains enough free space to create the client backup database. At least 20GB is required.
[9/3/2011 11:40:48 AM 1108] Client Backup server failed at d:\wssg_src\whs_pp2\qhs\src\backup\server\service\qsminterface.cpp(333)
Well I brought up device manager, it did split the system drive into C (20GB) and D (1377gb). The other 3 drives are listed and at are at about 60% capacity.
Is the error that states 20 GB is not available because it is syncing up the data? Do I need to be patient and give it a day or so
Thanks in Advance.
